Security alert: A Virgin Atlantic flight from London to JFK Airport in New York has relayed a security code warning of a hijacking, according to broadcast reports. Fighter jets have been scrambled.

Just showed up on the Boston Herald website.

UPDATE:

Security alert: A Virgin Atlantic flight from London to JFK Airport in New York that relayed a security code warning of a hijacking will land in Halifax, Nova Scotia, according to broadcast reports.

UPDATE:

Fox News has it now. Looks like a false alarm.

Contact has been made by the pilot, who says everything is fine, U.S. homeland security officials said, yet the flight continues to issue the hijack code, 7500. The fighter jets were sent out of extreme caution.
