The Assassination of Howie Carr

Whitey Bulger's former right hand man, Kevin Weeks, will be on "60 Minutes" this Sunday discussing his career with the Bulger crime syndicate. WBZ (Channel 4-Boston) has a sneak preview of his interview with Ed Bradley, in which he talks about two alleged plots to take out Boston Herald columnist, and WRKO talk show host, Howie Carr.

I was down at his house one morning, about 5:30 in the morning, across the street in a cemetery with a rifle, waiting for him to come out. And ... he came out about ... between 7:15 and 7:30. And ... he had his daughter with him. I assumed it was his daughter, a young girl, and he was holding her by the hand, walking to his car. So, I had to pass on it.

The other plot allegedly involved filling a basketball with C-4. Ouch, that would leave a mark.

One of the clips ends with Howie calling bullshit on Weeks' story, saying he wouldn't have had the stones to pull the trigger.

Good stuff.
