Do As I Say...

...not as I do.

[New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine] does not usually wear a seat belt, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press, but it is unknown whether he was wearing one at the time of the crash.

Here's a real shocker. New Jersey, that festering bastion of big-government nanny-statism, has had a primary seat belt law on the books since 1999.

Sources say the governor is listed in hypocritical condition.

UPDATE: More...

Corzine Crash Highlights Need To Buckle Up

Actually, it highlights the ridiculous nature of seat belt laws, and the tendency of those in power to thumb their noses at the laws meant for the common class.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - April 14, 2007 - It's a basic rule of the road, and it's the law in New Jersey.

But it's also a law the governor likely chose to ignore and that his security detail didn't enforce: Buckle up.

All animals are equal...

Governor Corzine is scheduled to undergo surgery today at a Camden hospital, where he is suffering from numerous injuries. His chief of staff said yesterday that he didn't believe Corzine was wearing a seat belt in the Thursday night crash. And he wasn't sure whether a state trooper would have asked Corzine to buckle up.

Said Tom Shea: "Those of you who know Governor Corzine know he's not always amenable to suggestion."

Yeah? Well, FUCK HIM!

It's the fucking law!

Say a licensed gun owner in New Jersey decided one day to carry a concealed firearm without having received express permission from the state to do so, despite the state's "suggestion" that such action would be in violation of state law? Surely, if someone were to tell the prosecutor's office that they're not always "amenable to suggestion", they'd get a pass from the powers that be, right?

Or, will the Governor's staff now be compiling a list showing which state laws are actually "laws", and which are merely "suggestions"?

Bottom line: Corzine's just another elitist hypocrite in a long line of elitist hypocrites to come out of the political establishment in this country. He believes that he has the right to choose which laws to obey, and which ones he gets to wipe his ass with, solely because of his position as one of the privileged class.
