Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before

NBC10.com:

No criminal charges will be filed against two police officers who accidental shot a South Jersey toddler after a gun went off in his home.

The shooting happened when his father, a Deptford Township police officer, and another officer were cleaning their firearms.

...over a cold bucket of Miller Lites.

Just like if this was Joe Citizen drinking beer in his backyard (in New Jersey, remember) with his buddies, who had pointed a loaded handgun at a small child and pulled the trigger, the police would simply give him a strong talking to, tell him to have a nice day and to be more careful next time, and drive away.

Uh huh.

Lastly, how tough is this to remember?

How to Clean a Firearm

Step 1: UNLOAD THE DAMN GUN!

And, yes, I see what appear to be gun cleaning kits in the picture, so it's possible they were, in fact, cleaning their guns at the time this shooting took place. That doesn't change the fact that the officers in question were grossly negligent and should face charges for what they did, just as you or I certainly would if we were in their shoes.
