State ups fine for health-reform scofflaws

The [Massachusetts] Department of Revenue will levy annual penalties of up to $1,116, or $93 per month, on individuals who don’t have health insurance in 2010.

That’s up roughly 5 percent from this year’s penalty of $1,068 per year, or $89 per month. There is no penalty for individuals who earn up to 150 percent of the federal poverty level.

Boston Globe - January 2007:

But, Monsieur, it is just a wafer-thin $200 fine!
