Five People Shot to Death in a Gun-Free Zone

Stop me if you've heard this one before.

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (CBS) ― Five women are dead after a shooting Saturday morning at a Chicago-area a strip mall, police said.

The victims were shot and killed at a Lane Bryant store at the Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park, police Sgt. T.J. Grady said. Tinley Park is suburb 5 miles south of Chicago.

Police did not release the victims' names, nor did they give a motive for the shooting.

Tinley Park police said a search of all stores in the mall and an air search of the area indicated that the gunman fled.

If only we could pass some common-sense legislation outlawing cold-blooded murder.

Ted Kennedy supports laws that make women in shopping malls defenseless victims of homicidal manaics. Do you think N.O.W. will issue a press release condemning that "betrayal of women" they way they did over Kennedy's endorsement of Barack Obama?

Yeah, I know.

Cue the winged sphincter-monkeys.

UPDATE: This will shock you.

Police said security cameras in the store had allowed them to tentatively identify the man, who they said has a prior history of armed robbery and a homicide conviction, NBC5 reported.

Well, thank God he wasn't languishing in a cold, dark prison cell somewhere. Imagine what that would have done to his self-esteem. Poor guy.
