Then came a knock on the door Monday morning. The Geliga brothers entered the apartment in a rage as a third teenager stood guard at the front door, Cheryl Murray said. Ramon drew a gun from his waistband and pointed it at her husband's head.
"You're not going to tell us what to do," the teenager said, according to what Murray said she was told by a friend who witnessed the altercation.
"And then my husband with his big mouth goes, 'What are you going to do? Shoot me?' And they shot him."
The 61-year-old disabled retiree, who had emphysema and had suffered multiple heart attacks, was hit in the abdomen and died later at St. Luke's Hospital. It was New Bedford's second homicide this year.
The trio's defense lawyers and their families said the shooting was in self-defense. They said that Murray lunged at Ramon Geliga with a knife.

The two brothers sobbed in court as they were ordered held without bail by New Bedford District Court Judge Bernadette Sabra.
