Friday Horse Flogging

I'm sure Mayor Menino, Senator Barrios, Representative Toomey, and the rest of the criminal-coddling politicians in Massachusetts, are quite proud of themselves today, knowing that neither of the scumbags responsible for these brutal crimes was at risk of being harmed by gunfire.

Why, that would be a violation of their civil rights.

Investigators say a woman was walking in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, when a man pulled up in a car, pointed a gun at her, forced her to get in, and then drove her to a location in West Roxbury where she was raped.

Ayer Police are investigating an apparent home invasion that left a 39-year-old woman with serious injuries.

And, from deep in the heart of the VDZ:

The young woman left the Harvard Square T stop about 2 a.m. Thursday.

[snip]

Police say as she walked away from the square, she could see a car with its headlights off trailing behind her. Two blocks later, police say the male driver jumped out and grabbed her arm.

Approached her, produced what appeared to be a real gun," said Pasquarello. "She looked at and observed it to be a fake gun, wrestled with the man and started screaming for help."

What was she thinking?

She obviously hasn't been paying attention to the "experts" who are constantly advising women in her position to just "give them what they want". They probably only wanted to take her out for a cup of coffee gang rape her. OK, maybe they wanted to beat and stab her, as well. Who knows? Regardless, how dare she deprive them of their right to the pursuit of happiness.

Awareness of personal safety has been heightened following the death of Imette St. Guillen. Police in Cambridge say this case reinforces the need to be cautious walking alone especially in the early morning hours.

Nothing says "cautious" like a hammerless .38 Special.

UPDATE: Also from the PPRC:

Cambridge Police Warn Of Crime Spree

NewsCenter 5's Mary Saladna reported that over the past couple of weeks there has been a rash of street robberies.

[snip]

In another area of the city, police have also issued an alert for a neighborhood that encompasses Main Street, Massachusetts Avenue, Prospect and Hampshire Streets, where six street robberies have taken place in the last two weeks, three on Norfolk Street alone.

Yet, the FACT remains - stop me if you've heard this one before - that the authorities in Cambridge (and Boston, Brookline, and Quincy, to name a few) would rather have women rely on the the "mercy" of armed criminals for their personal safety, rather than entrust them with the ability to effectively defend themselves from the same.

Progressive, indeed.
