Guns Don't Kill People

Turkey clubs and ham sandwiches do.

Concord – New Hampshire ranked fifth in the country for its work giving inmates access to vegetarian food, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said yesterday.

"Prison food has traditionally gotten a bad rap, but you won't hear many complaints from vegetarians and vegans who are serving time in New Hampshire. The delicious vegetarian shepherd's pie, pot pies, lentil 'meatballs,' and tofu sandwiches have inmates asking for seconds," PETA said in an announcement of the rankings yesterday.

"Whenever you see convicted criminals turning away from a violent animal-based diet, it's a good sign," PETA vice president Bruce Friedrich said.

Ask not for whom the cuckoo clock tolls...

Though, I have to say, serving convicted felons lentil "meatballs" is one form of cruel and unusual punishment I can wholeheartedly support. That thought was going to be the crux of this post until I saw that absolute gem of a quote from Mr. Friedrich there.
