Rule #1 - Version 12.0

Don't bring a fake gun to a metal object fight.

Store Security Guard, Employee Thwart Robbery

A store security guard and an employee took matters into their own hands at a Walgreen’s store on Boylston Street in Boston Tuesday after a man attempted to rob the store.

According to the security guard, he took a metal object and hit the robbery suspect, who was wielding a gun, which turned out to be a fake. A store employee then tackled and wrestled the suspect to the ground. They grabbed the gun and called 911, said the security guard.

The linked article is a pretty short write-up of the incident, and doesn't offer too much by way of details. I was going to look for an extended version to find the obligatory bloviating of some desk jockey at BPD admonishing this man for his "vigilantism" (hey, armed robbers have rights, too).

As it turns out, I didn't have to look far. The video accompanying the article has the following:

We have to point out, the police say they're glad these employees weren't hurt in the ordeal, but they do not recommend confronting an armed suspect under any circumstances.

Any circumstances?

"OK, Mr. Crackhead Rapist, sir. Here you go, just like you asked. Please don't hurt me. And, oh yeah, be gentle - she's only three."

And then there's this quote, illustrating the depth of firearms awareness so prevalent among the sheeple of Boston.

Turns out that gun he was using was a BB gun, though the two employees didn't know that at the time. They thought it was a shotgun.

One last note: I can now add this security guard to my short list of Yankees fans whose opinions and/or actions I can respect.

UPDATE: I stand corrected.
