I Could Have Some Fun With This

Unfortunately, as State Senator Susan Tucker pointed out on the Scott Allen Miller Show (WRKO 680AM) this morning, this contest (PDF file) is only open to people in her district, though there's no mention of that on the entry form.

There Ought to be a Law!

Have you ever had an idea of how to improve life in Massachusetts or make our state government run more efficiently? Senator Tucker invites you to participate in the "There Ought to be a Law" competition and welcomes all of your most innovative proposals. The winner, or winners, will have their bill ideas introduced as legislation, and have the opportunity to testify at a public hearing on their bill at the State House. They will also have lunch with Senator Tucker and receive a personal tour of the Senate Chamber.

Please complete this form and return it to the Office of Senator Tucker by December 15, 2006.

1). What is the problem that needs a legislative solution?

2). What is your solution? Please attach proposed language, if any.

3). Is there any helpful background information on the topic? Please explain.

4). Are there any possible costs associated with your proposal? Please describe.

5). Who do you think would support this proposal? Why?

6). Who do you think would oppose this proposal? Why?

Please send completed entries to:
Senator Sue Tucker, State House, Room 425, Boston, MA 02133
Fax to 617-722-1058
Email to Susan.Tucker@state.ma.us

So, if any of my readers living in her district (the towns of Lawrence, Andover, Dracut, and Tewksbury) send in an entry, please forward a copy to my attention and I'll post it here.

I think it's safe to assume that any entries received proposing actual "common sense" reform of the state's onerous and ineffective firearms laws and call for the restoration of the people's right to bear arms are unlikely to see the light of day.
