Chicago police: Celtic had role in club melee

Chicago police have wanted to talk to Celtics guard Tony Allen about an Aug. 28 shooting that he allegedly witnessed, but after reviewing a videotape of the incident they formalized that desire.

Police issued an investigative alert, which gives them the right to stop and question the Celtics guard – albeit only within the confines of Chicago.

Allen sounded doubtful yesterday when asked whether he would accompany the team on an Oct. 15 trip to his hometown for an exhibition game against the Bulls. He is in rehabilitation after knee surgery.

"They don't want the swelling to go up," he said.

Up the river, that is.
