Nice Try, Anthony Christina Whoever
So, I received this comment today from someone allegedly named "Anthony" to my post from last November (Baby, You ,Can Can't Insure My Car) supporting those who seek to reform the antiquated, unjust, state-regulated auto insurance system in Massachusetts.
"Anthony" begins...
Well, if curiosity does indeed get the cat, then I say, "Pass the Friskies."
I ran a quick IP Locator search on the IP address (209.113.163.194) from which our friend "Anthony" posted his comment there. It's registered to Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications, a PR firm here in Massachusetts.
I'll give you one guess as to which Bay State gubernatorial hopeful they list among their clientele.
Yep.
Our esteemed Attorney General Tom Reilly, who - we all know - is quite the champion of auto insurance reform here in the Commonwealth...not.
Thanks for that "fair and balanced" (read: full of crap) commentary, though, Anthony. It was a nice try. Unfortunately, we're not all as completely retarded as you'd like us to be.
But, wait, it gets better.
Six minutes after I replied to the comment left by "Anthony", I got a comment from "Christina" spewing the same anti-reform rhetoric as "Anthony" was. It found it quite remarkable that a blog post that had long since dropped off the front page here would suddenly be getting so much attention.
Blah blah blah. For the children. Blah. Blah.
OK, kids, for 20 bonus points, who can guess the IP address from which this concerned citizen, "Christina", posted "her" comment.
As if I have to ask.
Gotta love these internets. Thank you, Al Gore.
I'll hold off on posting this for a few more minutes to give "Philippe" and "Desdemona" a chance to put up a comment or two. I may have to baitthem him with a rebuttal to "Christina"'s whiny little missive there. Be right back.
UPDATE: This will come as a total shock to you, I'm sure (unless, of course, you have more than two functioning brain cells between your ears). From the "Massachusetts Coalition for Affordable Auto Insurance for All" website:
One guess where a Google search on that phone number will take you.

Having it be as simple as good drivers pay more so bad drivers pay less is exactly what companies like Geico and the politicians under their lobby want you to believe.

What is going to stop companies like Geico and Progressive from raising their rates? I doubt anyone will look to the root of our high premiums; our accident rates are the highest in the country and we buy more auto insurance than most other states. Who will protect those who are the most vulnerable?
