Mayor rapped on rape 'denial'
Mayor Menino has always run on the "strength" of his crime-fighting initiatives, proclaiming Boston to be a "safe city" for all of its residents.
The only problem with the Mayor's position there is that it's pure "Grade A" crap. Do you ever wonder why the Mayor spends so many late nights at Ugi's in Dudley Square chatting with the locals over a large meatball sub? No? That's because he doesn't. He knows better than to walk around there at night without his armed security detail in tow.
Councilor Hennigan needs to keep on this and hammer this point home as the central thesis of her mayoral campaign. If* she were to combine that attack with a platform of recognizing and promoting the personal responsibility of the city's residents and the rights of the same to bear arms in the defense of their families and neighbors, I have no doubt we'd have a new mayor-elect come election day this year. We shall see.
The alternative, and more likely scenario, is that she'll simply follow liberal party protocol, and demand more funding (at taxpayers' expense) for law enforcement and rape crisis counseling agencies - two groups that excel in dealing with sexual assaults AFTER women in our city are brutally violated.
This "outside the box" thinking will then be followed by more hair-brained, revenue-enhancement schemes like this one proposed last February by our good friend Representative Tim Toomey to fund newly proposed anti-gang violence initiatives.

As a little refresher course for the mayor (and the rest of the useless twits wasting otherwise perfectly good oxygen in City Hall and up on Beacon Hill), I present these previous posts highlighting the recent incidents of violent crime in the City of Boston from the last two months. Remember, this is not a "crisis situation", it's just a series of "issues". Everything's under control, folks. We're still well below the mayor's "crisis situation" threshold. Now, isn't that comforting?

[State Senator Jarrett Barrios] said he hopes to work with the Romney administration to find the money for the proposals. The House chairman of the committee, Rep. Timothy J. Toomey Jr., D-Cambridge, said one possibility is to increase licensing fees on firearm identification cards and gun purchases.
