Score One For the Good Guys

The taxpayers of Massachusetts scored a rare victory on Beacon Hill last night, handing Team DiRT their asses on the proverbial platter.

Massachusetts House members last night decisively defeated a controversial bill to extend in-state tuition rates at public colleges to undocumented immigrants, effectively killing the measure for this year.

Gee, that's too bad.

The 96-to-57 tally surprised advocates of the bill, who believed they had enough votes to win approval in the House and at one point were predicting they may have enough support to override a certain veto from Governor Mitt Romney.

This is a major defeat for House Speaker Sal DiMasi and our part-time Attorney General Tom Reilly, both of whom sent letters to lawmakers asking for their support for this piece of excrement bill. The fact that the legislature acted in accordance with the will of the people, and against the will of the "leadership" speaks volumes. If either of these clowns thinks this issue won't come up in November when the voters are heading to the polls, he is sorely mistaken.

Go easy on the celebratory champagne, though, folks. This bill will be back up for a vote next year - remain vigilant.

And people wonder why the voters of Massachusetts keep voting Republicans into the corner office. Just imagine if Rubber Stamp Reilly was sitting in the big chair waiting for this bill to hit his desk for signature.
