Katie Couric Uses Christmas Poem To Campaign For ObamaCare

UPDATE: From the comments @ newsbusters...

Twas the month before
November 23, 2009 - 22:18 ET by Slyrr

Twas the month before christmas, and all through the land,
the people were shouting to stop the government's plan
Yes they planned to seize health care, and they did it with glee,
with a scheme to fleece trillions, from taxpayers like me

they wrote in death panels, and all health care they rationed,
and they demanded church-goers to bankroll abortions
for it wasn't enough for them just to kill babies,
It had to be done in a way that spites Jesus.

the media laid out deception with care,
in hopes that full socialism soon would be theirs.
With Couric's lame poems and other claptrap
and with Chris Matthews bragging 'bout thrills in his pants

they lied and they shouted, they claimed to speak for the masses,
then sent unions and ACORN to kick protestor @$$#$.
They called us nazis, teabaggers, raised quite a to-do,
they bit off the fingers of protestors too.

They used violence and mob tactics in a desperate bid,
to silence the people, and keep the truth hid.
They bribed and they blackmailed to buy corrupt votes,
by the lead of Obama, and his lies about 'hope'.

He was supposed to end 'business as usual' here,
but both he and the media killed hope with a sneer.
They shut out debate, they said 'shut up and go 'way,
'this ain't American no more', we heard their thugs say

They pretend to be as holy as a church with a steeple,
they're just doing their own will - and ignoring the people!

Good Thing She's a Massachusetts Democrat

If she were anything but, this story would have the potential to destroy her political career.

When Martha Coakley was the Middlesex district attorney, her office prosecuted the Rev. John J. Geoghan based on an allegation that he squeezed the buttocks of a 10-year-old boy a single time at a public swimming pool. The highly publicized 2002 conviction won Coakley widespread praise for bringing the first successful criminal case against the widely accused pedophile, a priest many had called “Father Jack."

But seven years earlier, Coakley, then the head of the Middlesex child abuse unit, had Geoghan in her sights and took a dramatically different approach. Back then, three grade-school brothers told investigators that Geoghan had inappropriately touched them during numerous visits to their Waltham home, and had made lewd telephone calls to them. Rather than prosecute, Coakley agreed to grant Geoghan a year of probation in a closed-door proceeding that received no media attention at all.

Because of the deal, Geoghan faced no formal charges and no criminal record.

If you remember, back in July of 2008, we learned that Martha Coakley isn't exactly a big fan of seeing private citizens take actions to protect children from sexual predators.

"All I'm saying is that...we really try and discourage people from self-help."

Now, we find out she's been discouraging the State from doing anything about them either.

And, this woman wants to be a United States senator.

Though, I must say, given the current crop of corrupt, thieving scumbags holding that title, I think she'd fit in quite nicely.

Massachusetts voters certainly deserve her.

The rest of us, not so much.

UPDATE: Exit Question: Will Mike Capuano bury her with this in next month's special election for Ted Kennedy's senate seat, or play the role of John McCain, the friendly (and sad, pathetic, losing) candidate, and pass this baton to Scott Brown for use further down the road?

From the Sick and Senseless

I see white people.

I was going to post something about this earlier along the lines of "Imagine how utterly shocked I was to find out that Chris Matthews had played the race card in his anti-Palin tirade du jour."

I Know You're All As Shocked As I Am

And, yes, I'm probably the last person to get around to blogging about this.

One of the world’s leading climate change research centres has been accused of manipulating data on global warming after thousands of private emails and documents were leaked.

Hackers targeted the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit and published the files, including some personal messages, on the internet.

Among the most damaging is one which appears to suggest using a ‘trick’ to massage years of temperature data to ‘hide the decline’.

Three things:

1. No shit.

2. 'Bout time the cover got blown off this beast.

3. If this was a multi-billion trillion-dollar scam being perpetrated by Republicans and their well-heeled special interest groups, it would be the lead story on every television news show, and front page news in every newspaper the world over, from now until the 2010 elections the sun implodes.

But, since this criminal enterprise is being run by the socialist wing of the Democrat party and their accomplices in the UN and international, left-wing academia, it's crickets time.

But, I digress.

To mark this beautiful, and long overdue occasion, I'm clearing out my AL GORE CAN KISS MY CARBON FOOTPRINT bumper sticker inventory. Ten stickers for ten bucks until they're gone (and I've got lots).

Just click the Buy Now button below and I'll double your order.

UPDATE: And, if you've ordered some of these stickers in the last three months, drop me an e-mail from the address connected to your Paypal account and I'll send five more out to you on the house.

Also, I have a couple orders that I haven't sent out yet. I got behind on lots of stuff when my laptop shit the bed and had to be taken in for surgery. I'll get those out to you as soon as possible.

Hey, Andrea...

...bitter much?

The criminal enterprise known as man-made global warming is busted wide open, Congress continues its path toward a government-run healthcare that people simply don't want imposed upon them, our troops are dying with no clear battle plan in place and a president who would rather travel the globe collecting snapshots for his "Look how awesome I am!" photo album, and MSNBC sends their "big guns" to a book signing.

Rhetorical Question of the Day

Remember when that reporter from Fox News approached that young girl in line at an Obama rally and started grilling her on Obama's positions to try to make her look like an idiot for supporting him?

Yeah, me neither.

And, some actually wonder why MSNBC's ratings are in under the toilet.

Vaclav Klaus:

I agree with Professor Richard Lindzen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who said: “future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early 21st century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age”.

You Don't Say

Obama: Too much debt could fuel double-dip recession

BEIJING, Nov 18 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama gave his sternest warning yet about the need to contain rising U.S. deficits, saying on Wednesday that if government debt were to pile up too much, it could lead to a double-dip recession.

Coming from the man who just wasted nearly a trillion dollars on a do-nothing (nothing good, anyway) "stimulus" package, and is actively trying to impose trillions in additional healthcare and energy costs (not to mention, MASSIVE tax increases) on an already over-burdened and suffering nation.

It's almost as if he wants us to be so miserable and destitute that we'll have no alternative but to come begging to him on our hands and needs to be graced with his benevolence and goodwill.

I will say this about Barack Obama.

For the first time in my adult life, an American president is living up to each and every expectation I had of him prior to his being sworn into office.

Say It Isn't So

Al Gore?

Making shit up?

I'm shocked.

Huh?

Say what?

I think it's very important for the United States not to assume that what is good for us is automatically good for somebody else,” Obama told the students at the town hall, in Shanghai.

Liberty
Democracy
Freedom of speech
Religious freedom
The right to peaceably assemble
The right to vote
The right to own property
The right to a fair trial

Is our president, the so-called "leader of the free world" implying that those things listed above are, in fact, bad for some people not fortunate enough to call America home?

Also, from that article, in case you needed a reason to smile today...

The pageantry of his trip is also playing out against a parade of disappointment: Administration officials have acknowledged that a binding international climate agreement won't emerge from the Copenhagen summit next month.

I guess that depends heavily on one's definition of "disappointment".

Question For My Female Readers

Would you rather get a false positive result from a mammogram, or a missed positive result from the mammogram you never got in the first place?

WaPo: Breast exam guidelines now call for less testing

Women in their 40s should stop routinely having annual mammograms and older women should cut back to one scheduled exam every other year, an influential federal task force has concluded, challenging the use of one of the most common medical tests.

In its first reevaluation of breast cancer screening since 2002, the independent government-appointed panel recommended the changes, citing evidence that the potential harm to women having annual exams beginning at age 40 outweighs the benefit.

[...]

Several patient advocacy groups and many breast cancer experts welcomed the new guidelines, saying they represent a growing recognition that more testing, exams and treatment are not always beneficial and, in fact, can harm patients. Mammograms produce false-positive results in about 10 percent of cases, causing anxiety and often prompting women to undergo unnecessary follow-up tests, sometimes-disfiguring biopsies and unneeded treatment, including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

Unnecessary follow-up tests???

"Mrs. Johnson, your mammogram is showing us something that could be a cancerous growth in your left breast. We'd like to run some more tests to be sure."

"Aw, do you have to? That seems so darn unnecessary. Can't we just start chemo instead?"

"Did you tell them to go back to Massachusetts? That's what we do up here," Henry Ladd Jr., 43, recalled saying to the officer.

At the Risk of Repeating Myself

Camille Paglia:

Holy Hygeia, why can't my fellow Democrats see that the creation of another huge, inefficient federal bureaucracy would slow and disrupt the delivery of basic healthcare and subject us all to a labyrinthine mass of incompetent, unaccountable petty dictators?

Because, to most of your fellow Democrats, that's a feature, not a bug.

Missing Child Rescued By Armed Citizen

Union Leader (NH):

MILTON, N.H. (AP) -- A missing 2-year-old Maine girl who was allegedly taken by her father has been recovered and is OK, police said Tuesday.

Hailey Traynham was found in the woods with her father, 38-year-old Gary Traynham, who has been arrested and is due to appear in court later this week. State police say he's being held in New Hampshire on a fugitive charge from Maine.

A hunter spotted Traynham and persuaded him to surrender and took the pair to the home of retired Wakefield Police Chief Timothy Merrill.

Men with rifles do tend to possess a certain "persuasive" quality.

Hailey disappeared Monday after Traynham allegedly assaulted the girl's mother at her Sanford apartment. He faces a gross sexual assault charge in that incident.

The hunter, Mike Grant Jr., 38, said he walked up to the truck in which Traynham had been hiding with Hailey since daylight broke on Tuesday. Grant said he never had to raise his firearm.

Job well done.

If a new barrel for my Remington 870 (for bird hunting) costs as much as a second-hand barrel (with the rest of the shotgun attached to it), why wouldn't I choose "get another gun"?

New State Motto for Massachusetts

If it moves, tax it. If it moves too fast, ticket it.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (D) on Thursday outlined his plan to reduce the state's $600 million deficit and help struggling municipalities by, among several other revenue raising measures, installing red light cameras. The governor's proposed fiscal year 2010 budget amendments would eliminate an existing state law forcing police officers to issue traffic citations personally. Under the new legislation, any jurisdiction in the commonwealth could give private, for-profit companies the right to issue $100 traffic tickets.

They won't privatize the turnpike, but they'll hire mercs to issue speeding tickets.

Feelin' that Hopenchange yet?

Yeah, didn't think so.

Patrick's proposal would enforce payment of the automated citations by suspending the driver's license and vehicle registration of owners who fail to pay after two tickets are sent to his last known address. The suspensions remain in effect until the tickets and late penalties are paid in full, in addition to a $40 reinstatement fee that is split between the municipality and the state. The proposal also allows localities to seize or boot vehicles for non-payment.

As far as that highlighted bit is concerned, the fact that some people who moved out of Massachusetts years ago, myself included, are still getting robo-calls every day from candidates running in Boston's city elections, should worry everybody.
