Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Barack Obama, the self-professed torchbearer of change, has once again told his gathering throngs of fawn-eyed disciples that John McCain and his campaign staff will be attacking him with vile, racist comments designed to scare voters into voting Republican this fall.

After rattling off a string of promises, Obama predicted Republicans will go negative in their fall campaign, saying of himself: “He’s got a funny name. He hasn’t been in Washington long enough.


Tired, worn-out, divisive rhetoric and fear-mongering.

That's all he's got.

Sad.

OK, it's not all he's got.

Obama also has a lot of ideas for this country that would punish the hard-working, successful American citizen, while rewarding those who have made a living off of the hard work of others - ideas that would make Noam Chomsky, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and the ghost of Karl Marx get all sorts of tingly feelings between their legs.

Someone needs to clue him in that being effective at waging class warfare does not, in fact, count as actually military experience.

I have to believe that Abraham Lincoln would be delighted to hear of Sarah Palin's inclusion on the GOP ticket. Our founders envisioned a federal government made up of ordinary people chosen by their peers to serve the country as legislators and executives, not of career politicians trading taxpayer funded earmarks for campaign contributions.

Picture this scenario...

One month from now, the Palin pick has proven a bonanza for the McCain campaign. A large chunk of Hillary's 18 million voters have been won over. Conservatives are unified and energized, and the previously-undiscovered "Maxim magazine vote" is suddenly giving McCain large margins among young males.

Joe Biden will disappear from the campaign trail, and we will later learn it was to see a doctor. A previously-undiscovered, vaguely ominous health issue will be discovered, and Biden will sadly announce that he cannot continue as Obama's running mate. With a sudden need for a new one, Obama will turn... to Hillary Clinton.

Call it the Torricelli gambit.


I say it's not all that crazy or far-fetched in that I said the exact same thing (adding, of course, that Biden would say it's "for the children") earlier this morning while on the phone with this guy.

While that prediction is a bit of a longshot (though, I could totally see it happening), this one's likely a sure bet.

If I had to say when, I'd say it shows up within a week of the conclusion of the GOP convention.

I'd even go so far as to predict that as part of the shameless ploy, Michelle Obama will be "caught on camera" shedding a tear or two. It worked for Hillary in New Hampshire, and I can't say I've ever accused the Obama camp of being capable of producing anything resembling original ideas.

Misleading Headline of the Day

From The Republican (Springfield, MA):

Springfield man sentenced for shooting 2 men who broke into his home

SPRINGFIELD - A city man who shot two men, chasing them after they had broken into his home and beat him, Thursday was sentenced to 18 months in the Hampshire Couny [sic] House of Corrections.


I thought the same thing.

"God damn Massachusetts, man!!! What the hell???"

However, reading the rest of the article paints an entirely different picture. In fact, it would appear the guy got off easy.

Gonzalez had faced 12 charges, including two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, four illegal weapons charges and a count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

The state is not going forward with the armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charges, as well as the two most serious gun charges.


Contrary to what the headline says, all charges pertaining to the shooting were dropped, as they should have been. Even the scumbaggiest of scumbags has the right to defend himself (and his wife and kids, if applicable) in his home from fellow scumbags.

A Nashua man is in rough shape after falling off his Harley Davidson on Route 101 on Saturday, police reported.

Carl Hannigan, 51, was going east on Route 101 in the area of West Intervale Road at about 12:14 p.m. Saturday, standing upright on the seat of his 1974 Harley Davidson, when he fell off, police reported.


Be sure to read the comments posted there by some of this rocket scientist's relatives, in which they try to rationalize his idiocy as some kind of innocent hobby of his, as if it was no big deal.

I guess they figured that since she hadn't played by their rules, and had instead killed her attacker before he could stab her to death, they'd try to finish the job and ruin her life via their slanted news coverage.

And, with local prosecutors as tag-team partners in their twisted game, they were almost successful.

The neighbor wrapped the girl, who was still in shock, in a blanket. "The shock, the blood just drains from your body," says Morosi. She cooperated with investigators, telling them she had shot her attacker in self defense. Before they left, Stephanie Morosi was arrested and charged with first degree murder. Neither knife Truitt was carrying was taken into evidence.

Life in Michael Bloomberg's America

All is well.

New York City investigators wonder why neighbors waited more than a half hour before calling police after hearing the screams for help from a woman who was stabbed to death at a Queens apartment.


I can't blame her neighbors for not getting directly involved. Odds were there was an armed and dangerous psychopath down the hall, and thanks to their mayor and their "progressive" state government, ordinary citizens in New York City have had the means (and the desire) to make life uncomfortable for the criminal segment of the population taken from them.

What? You think Bloomberg wants all those lesser classes of people to enjoy the same Constitutional rights and liberties as his millionaire celebrity friends?

You're kidding right?

He's dedicated the last six years of his life toward creating and maintaining a safe, non-hostile work environment for the criminal element in his city. He's not about to let a bunch of uppity rabble-rousers mess it all up now.

Police found Ebony Garcia, 21, lying in a pool of blood at about 2:10 a.m Saturday. She was stabbed about a dozen times and died two hours later at a local hospital.


Myth: New York City's gun laws save lives.

Fact: Bloomberg would rather see 100,000 dead Ebony Garcia's than read about one armed citizen coming to her assistance, saving her life, and removing her assailant from the voter rolls gene pool.

Police want to question Garcia’s boyfriend, against whom she had obtained a restraining order.

And, everyone knows that people for whom stabbing someone to death has the same moral consequence as leaving the toilet seat up are the ones most likely to be dissuaded from their violent ways by a piece of paper that says, "Hey! Quit it!".

When Seconds Count...

...the police are minutes away already there.

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A party cruise ends in violence leaving one man dead.

State Police say the 41-year-old victim was on board the Provincetown II boat that came back from a cruise around midnight Thursday night. There were 815 people on board the boat.

The victim was in a parking lot between Anthony's Pier 4 Restaurant and the Institute of Contemporary Art, when he was gunned down.

State Police Sgt. John Gentile tells WBZ TV three to four shots were fired. He says they already had six cruisers at the pier for traffic and crowd control when the boat came in. Despite closing off the area quickly, the gunman managed to escape.

BOSTON (WBZ) ― There was good news and bad news for drivers at the Massachusetts Turnpike Board meeting Wednesday in Auburn.

The good news is the board decided not to raise the cost of tolls for the next 12 months.

The bad news - they plan to eliminate toll discounts for drivers who use the automated Fast Lane system.

The discount saves drivers 25 cents at the Allston-Brighton and Interstate 95 tolls and 50 cents at the tunnels.

The board said getting rid of the discounts will bring in an extra $18 million a year to the cash-strapped agency. The Pike is struggling with a $56 million deficit, caused primarily by the Big Dig.


I'd post the answers, but I don't see any reason to, knowing that my readers, on average, are 350% smarter than the average Massachusetts voter.

It's Official

Boston-based gun control zealot extraordinaire, John Rosenthal, has officially become a shallow and vapid parody of himself.

The gun-control activist whose provocative billboards have been turning heads along the Massachusetts Turnpike for 13 years today will unveil one of his most eye-popping messages yet - a fake neon advertisement for American gun shows where people can buy weapons, no questions asked.

"We Sell Guns! No ID required. No background checks. Criminals and terrorists welcome!" the billboard peals.

“Gun shows are the equivalent of Al Qaeda terrorists walking directly onto the airplane while you and I wait in the TSA line,” John Rosenthal, founder and chairman of Stop Handgun Violence, said in a recent interview. “They don’t want us to go on airplanes but they let Al Qaeda buy guns unprotected.”


Uh-huh.

Because we all know that if Congress would only pass a few more "common sense" gun control laws, then Al Qaeda operatives throughout the US would be disarmed at last.

What is this tired, old jackass smoking? And, did he bring enough for the rest of the class?

In a matter of hours, sixteen terrorists murdered almost 3,000 people on American soil seven years ago, armed with nothing more than a handful of boxcutters.

This country has seen numerous incidents of domestic terrorism over the last 100 years, with an overwhelming majority of those incidents being carried out by individuals or organizations (including a couple close, personal friends of Barack Obama) using explosive devices.

Then there are the numerous acts of arson committed by the sociopathic mental defectives masquerading as environmental and animal rights activists...

...a deadly string of anthrax attacks...

...and, for kicks, let's throw a rented SUV rampage into the mix.

So, how many actual terrorist attacks on US soil have been carried out by perpetrators armed with firearms? Well, there was this guy.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A gunman opened fire Thursday at Los Angeles International Airport while standing in line at the ticket counter of Israel's El Al Airlines, officials said, killing two and wounding four others before an airline security officer shot him dead.

"He was armed with a .45-caliber handgun which he used in the shooting, as well as a 9 mm handgun which he had on his possession," FBI spokesman Ron Iden said. "He also had in his possession what's described as a 6-inch knife."

In a country of over 300 million people, it's a BLOODY EPIDEMIC, I tell you!!!

And, I'll bet anyone a steak dinner that the guy's .45 didn't come from a gun show. Just like the other roughly 99% of crime guns that weren't purchased at gun shows through this so-called "loophole". Rosenthal knows that the percentage of crime guns purchased at gun shows is so small as to almost be negligible, so he as to introduce the specter of terrorism into the discussion in order to shore up his sagging credentials on this matter.

A little trick he learned from his idol, Dianne Feinstein, I suppose.

"This legislation would begin to change that," Senator Feinstein said. "It would place stricter requirements on the way in which these guns can be bought and sold, making it harder for terrorists, assassins, and other criminals to obtain these powerful weapons. This is not a matter of firearm safety, but a matter of national security."


While proving once again what a major schmuck he really is, John Rosenthal has taken shameless fear mongering and asshattery to earth-shattering new heights with this one. The whole thing just comes across as a desperate plea for attention from a whiny, little bitch, forever trapped on the wrong side of the great divide between truth and lies, freedom and fascism, hope and despair.

He is one sad, little man...who, by the way, happens to be getting his ass handed to him in the comments to his related post over at Huffington Post.

You see, what this annoying, little jerk isn't telling the reader is that it's not about gun sales at gun shows, per se. It's about banning all private transfers of firearms.

Want to give your nephew one of your old squirrel guns for Christmas? That'll be $25 for the additional paperwork and background check required. Did Grandpa pass away and leave you his gun collection of 52 guns. That'll be another $1,300 in FFL processing fees, thank you very much. It's "for the children, you understand.

Also, there's no such thing as an unlicensed firearms "dealer". It's all wordplay, designed to obfuscate reality and confuse the reader, much like the gun control lobby's invention of the fear-inducing phrase "assault weapon".

Case in point:

Smaller dealers like Sukia O'Mere and Niya Mills who prosecutors say drove to Alabama last year and bought a small stash of weapons to sell for $800 a piece back in Boston.


If we're going to call those skanks "firearms dealers", then their drug trafficking boyfriends are, henceforth, to be referred to as "pharmacists".

There's no difference between someone who isn't a federally-licensed dealer selling a gun at a gun show and selling a gun in a Burger King parking lot. The same local ordinances and state and federal laws pertaining to the possession and private purchases and sales of firearms apply equally to both scenarios.

Related note:

Bailey's Law: As a person who possesses both money and a complete disregard for the law (and who wants a gun) approaches another person who possesses both guns and a complete disregard for the law (and who wants money), the odds of an illegal firearms transfer not taking place approach zero.


So, anyway, here's how it will play out.

Let's say President McCain caves and closes this so-called "gun show loophole" in the spring of 2009. Does anyone think that would be the end of the gun control lobby's efforts to ban all private transfers of firearms? OK, anyone with a brain larger than an almond, that is?

Up next, closing the "gun show venue parking lot loophole", followed closely by the "vacant lot down the street from gun show venue parking lot loophole". And, once that one gets signed into law, they'll set their sights on the "Your living room eight miles from the vacant lot down the street from the gun show venue parking lot loophole."

All the while, not giving one drop of cold piss about the "Break into some guy's house and steal his guns" loophole or the "Hey, I'll trade you a gun for some crack" loophole.

Man Charged With Hitting Man With Baseball Bat

KINGSTON, N.H. -- Police have arrested a New Hampshire man they said broke a baseball bat over the head of another man after arguing about a woman.

Tony Eaton, 24, of Hampstead, has been charged with first-degree assault.

Police Chief Donald Briggs said Gavin Pavstin, 23, was hit so hard that the wooden baseball bat snapped in half the second time he was hit.


Ouch.

Pavstin was taken to Exeter Hospital and treated for his wounds.

If convicted, Eaton could face up to 15 years in prison.


Compare and contrast that story to this story out of Leominster, Massachusetts. Yes, that Massachusetts.

Leominster man fends off intruder with bat, police say

LEOMINSTER -- Said Salles, 61, said he knew what he had do when he realized a man was breaking into his Franklin Street home Sunday morning.

"My wife was home, she is sick, I have an obligation," Salles said Monday.


Obligation fulfilled.

Salles stayed quite when he heard the person knocking on the door and then saw someone look into the apartment through one of the front windows. A few minutes later he heard the sound of breaking glass coming from the kitchen.

Salles grabbed one of his grandson's baseball bats and crept into the kitchen, where he saw a man matching Hernandez's description stick his head in through the window.

"He put his head in the window and I hit him on the head," Salles said. "There was a lot of blood."


That's gonna leave a mark.

On the floor, on the window sill, on the curtains...

Hernandez then told [Officer Carlos] Cintron he slipped in Dixon's South Cotton Street apartment and hit his head on her coffee table and required medical attention.


Try again, asshole.

Hernandez told Judge John Curran a different story in Leominster District Court on Monday.

Speaking through an interpreter, Hernandez claimed police officers punched him after his arrest, causing the head wound. Hernandez required 13 staples to close the wound, he said in court.

Curran ordered Hernandez held on $5,000 cash bail and then revoked his bail in three other open cases, including a larceny case, a receiving stolen property case and a possession of a Class E drug case.


This guy better be careful. He's almost a third of the way to facing Massachusetts' tough new 15-strikes law. If he gets there, he might actually see the inside of a prison cell.

The viewers say with the stars and blue field in the lower left corner, it looks like an upside down American flag. Published flag etiquette states the stars should always be displayed in the upper left corner. An upside down flag represents an international symbol of extreme distress.

Matt Chandler with the Obama campaign says the flag is not upside down. He says it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama's shirt with the flag blowing in the wind.

Here's a heartwarming story that's sure to put a smile on your face. Unless, of course, your name is Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, or _________ (insert freedom-loathing fascist of your choosing here) who would rather see an 85-year-old woman brutally assaulted than respect her her right to defend herself.

LAKE LYNN, Pa. -- An 85-year-old great-grandmother from Lake Lynn, Fayette County kept an alleged burglar at bay using a .22-caliber pistol.

According to police, a 17-year-old suspect was attempting to burglarize Leda Smith overnight.

That's when Smith grabbed her gun and told the teen that she would shoot him if he moved, police said.

"I had the gun on him before he turned around and said, 'you've had it,' " Smith told Channel 11-News.

According to police, Smith ordered the boy to dial 911 and then gave him some advice.

"Dial 911 and don't attempt to throw the phone at me, or do anything bad or I'll just shoot you," Smith said.


No shots fired.

No blood in the streets.

No wild-west shootouts.

Elderly would-be victim alive and well.

An 85-year-old New York City woman was viciously beaten in an elevator — and the attack was caught on camera.

The mugger jumped Lillian France, grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off the ground before running off with her purse and cane, according to FOX 5 News in New York.

The security guard watched the whole ordeal on surveillance video and initially thought the two were kissing, a neighbor said. Then he realized that he was witnessing an attack — and called 911.

What Would You Do?

You're driving to the supermarket to pick up a few things. You find a good parking spot, but notice that someone left his shopping cart there, so you have to stop the car, get out and move it. While doing so, you notice that whoever had that cart had left a case of beer in the bottom rack.

What would you do?

And, oh yeah, it's Budweiser.

A. Leave it there. It's piss anyway.

B. Take it back to the store and explain that someone had left it behind.

C. Shit! Free beer! And, hey, if that guy hadn't been such a douchebag and left his cart in my spot, he would have noticed the beer was still there when he took it back to the cart return area.

UPDATE: It was my Better Half who was faced with this moral dilemma the other day. She, being the good spouse and morally upright citizen that she is, grabbed the beer, stuck it in the back of the Odyssey, and drove home without a second thought.

Well done, Sweety.

Now, if the original purchaser of the beer were to come forward and show me a dated store receipt for the case of beer, he or she would be more than welcome to come over for a cold one.

One Freaky Bug

So, the wife calls me out onto the deck earlier today, where a couple of these guys were buzzing around our lilac bush. They looked like small hummingbirds (flew and hovered like then too) with antennae and hairy, little crawfish tails.

They weren't even a foot away from me and I had no idea what the hell I was looking at. It wasn't until I got that last picture there showing its wingspan that I knew it was some kind of moth.

A quick Google search for "moth that flies like a hummingbird" gave me the answer. It's a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth.

New Bedford police and neighborhood residents are searching for the vandals responsible for defacing a new handicapped-accessible playground that took years and thousands of dollars to build.

Reginald Whitehead is now in jail. Sunday night neighbors say, he went on a rampage wielding an axe and threatening people on Steiner street in Mobile all the while stark naked.

They're clearly responsible for facilitating this horrific incident. I mean, did you know that, in Alabama, any nutjob can just walk into a hardware store and buy an axe with no criminal background check, licensing requirement, or waiting period?

Witnesses say Whitehead then went across the street where three-year-old Jonah was playing in his yard. His mother, Tessica Williams told us, “He chased my son back into the yard with the ax. I grabbed my son, threw my son into the house and I grabbed my gun and told him not to take another step because I was going to shoot him. He raised the ax up and dropped it back down and ran down the street."


Mother and child safe.

No shots fired.

No blood in the streets.

I hope she takes that gun down to the shop first thing in the morning to have a qualified gunsmith take a look at it. It's obviously defective, as illustrated by the fact that she didn't kill half a dozen bystanders that day, and her child made it his third birthday in one piece.

Gun Control: Because the right of some crazed, naked, axe-wielding sociopath to attack a three-year-old child is more sacrosanct that the right of the child's mother to prevent him from doing so.

A black bear repeatedly mauled an 8-year-old boy Monday evening near a popular motor trail on the outskirts of Gatlinburg, and an animal matching its description was later killed by park rangers.

Circling the Bowl

From the same idiotic, liberal (but, I repeat myself) mindset that tried to sell us Ebonics as a legitimate "language" to accepted in our schools alongside English, Spanish, French, Latin, etc.

Faced with a flood of basic spelling mistakes, you might expect a university lecturer to demand his students pay more attention to the dictionary.

But one don is so fed up with having to correct his undergraduates' errors that he is calling for something rather more unorthodox - a spelling amnesty.

Dr Ken Smith is urging colleagues to turn a blind eye to the 20 most common slips - such as 'Febuary', 'ignor' and 'speach' - and view them instead as variants of standard spellings.


This helps to explain why there are so many young people around the world who are enamored with Barack Obama and who think SUV's in Alabama are killing polar bears in Alaska.

We're looking at a generation of kids that has all but given up the ability to think and learn. What really pisses me off to no end is how willing their "educators" are to facilitate this abandonment of reality and common sense in favor of life in a world where there are no "wrong answers", only HopenchangeTM.

Caught On Tape: Elected Official Accused Of Theft

BOSTON (WBZ) ― An elected official in Middlesex County is scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday. Register of Probate John Buonomo was arrested after prosecutors say he was caught on tape stealing thousands of dollars.

Buonomo is accused of repeatedly stealing money from copy and cash machines in the Registry of Deeds, the District Attorney's Office said Wednesday. He was arrested Wednesday evening after a three month investigation.


From Buonomo's biography:

Mr. Buonomo has been an innovative public manager for twenty two years.


Yeah, not one of his predecessors was innovative enough, apparently, to line his pockets through theft of public funds.



Why was he pocketing the cash?

Perhaps, he was just trying to recoup some of his election manipulation expenses from the 2000 primary.

STONEHAM, MA - If at first you don't succeed, recount. John Buonomo pulled the Democratic nomination for Register of Probate out from under Thomas Concannon, Jr, who, just a few days earlier, was a winner.

Concannon, the former May-or of Newton, won the Sept. 19 Primary Election by 40 votes, 9,283 to 9,243. Then Buonomo took out the papers to file for a countywide recount. But instead he filed for local recounts, targeting 126 precincts where he had done well and where many blank ballots had been recorded.

Concannon lost his chance to ask for a countywide recount on Sept. 22. He lost his chance to ask for local recounts on Sept. 25. And after 126 precincts of 11 Middlesex communities, including Stoneham, were counted, Concannon lost the race.

There are 473 precincts in 54 communities in Middlesex County. But you get what you work for and what you pay for. Buonomo's people had to get ten signatures of Democrats registered as of Aug. 30 from each precinct they wanted recounted. And filing the requests costs money. Someone close to the Buonomo camp said the effort cost $7,000.


In his defense, it's only fair that if illegal aliens get to feed at the public trough, then so should their enablers in local government.

The former alderman who submitted the resolution making Somerville a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants in 1987 said this week he stands by his vote that allowed immigrants with questionable documentation status to access city services.

Former Ward 4 Alderman and current Register of Probate John Buonomo said the resolution made it clear to city employees that they did not have to inquire about documentation status before offering help to city residents. According to records on the city’s Web site, Buonomo submitted the sanctuary city resolution at the April 23, 1987 Board of Aldermen meeting.


As far as I'm concerned, the voters of Middlesex County who handed this guy the reins of power deserve no less than the reprehensible, amoral jackass he's repeatedly proven himself to be.

Nice job, people.

No, Really, I Can't Make This Stuff Up

In the comments to this post from yesterday about the sexual assault that took place recently outside the Regal Cinema in Newington (a posted "gun-free zone"), the question came up about what one should do if he finds himself at the front door of such an establishment, and is lawfully carrying a concealed weapon.

I outlined four options one would have in such a situation:

1. Carry anyway.
2. Turn around and walk away.
3. Politely inform theater management that you refuse to patronize any business that seeks to strip you of your right to self-defense.
4. Secure firearm in your vehicle and return to theater.


And, then, as a humorous sidenote, I added option 5:

Of course, Sarah Brady would have everyone believe there are countless gun owners who would go with...

Option 5: Become enraged over the anti-killing machine signage, whip out your substitute penis, and mow down hundreds of moviegoers in a spray-fired fusillade of cop-killer bullets from your Saturday Night Special assault weapon.


Now, that was obviously written in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. I mean, no one could possibly be so idiotic as to insinuate that normal, law-abiding people, lawfully carrying concealed handguns for the purpose of personal protection, are just going to start shooting away, completely out of the blue, for no rational reason, whatsoever.

Right?

Well, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that as soon as you make something foolproof, it won't be long until a moron comes along and screws it all up.

Yes, real life has once again imitated my overactive imagination.

Here's Mishawaka, Indiana City Attorney Cory Hamel discussing a recently proposed, and subsequently defeated, city ordinance that would have banned pretty much any kind of weapon in a handful of local government buildings, including Mishawaka City Hall.

“What we're trying to do is prevent people who walk
in with no agenda, but while he's inside with a gun,
gets irate and may do something drastic.”

Allow me to translate: "There will be "Blood in the Streets"TM! And, this time - unlike the countless times before when this worn-out, imagination-based talking point had been regurgitated, but never realized - we mean it!"

Oh, and, the impetus behind this ordinance?

Hamel says he was concerned for city employees' safety when a man walked into city hall a few weeks ago with a gun in a holster with two extension clips, in addition to a billy club.

Hamel says he never threatened anyone, but he and Rea say this is a warning sign.


It sure is.

WARNING: The people of Mishawaka actually take their Constitutionally- protected rights seriously and aren't about to roll over when faced with the threat of violence or totalitarian government officials with hyperactive imaginations.

Also...

Mayor Jeff Rea and City Attorney Cory Hamel, proponents of the weapons ban ordinance, feel city employees would be best protected if only on and off-duty police officers were allowed weapons in busy city buildings.


Heavy emphasis on "feel".

And, of course, we already know how that misguided philosophy plays out in the real world, when only the police are lawfully allowed to carry personal sidearms.

[Some who spoke in opposition to the ordinance] say if a person wants to pull out a gun and shoot, they will. It happened at a city hall meeting in Missouri in February. Five people were killed, including police officers and city officials.


Maybe Mr. Hamel could ask those five people how they were "feeling" as they were being murdered in their "gun-free zone" government building.

Though, the chicken, mushrooms, pizza dough, and the olive oil I drizzled across the top all came from big, bad Wal-Mart.

And, if it weren't so damn tasty, that might mean something to me.

You don't have to own a gun, and there are plenty of sissy arms-are-for-hugging granola-crunchers who don't. But they benefit from the fact that their crazy stump-toothed knuckle-dragging neighbors do. If you want to burgle a home in the Granite State, you'd have to be awfully certain it was the one-in-a-hundred we-are-the-world panty-waists's pad and not some plaid-clad gun nut who'll blow your head off before you lay a hand on his seventy-dollar TV. A North Country non-gun owner might tire of all the Second Amendment kooks with the gun racks in the pickups and move somewhere where everyone is, at least officially, a non-gun owner just like him: Washington, D.C., say, or London. And suddenly he finds that, in a wholly disarmed society, his house requires burglar alarms and window locks and a security camera.

As of sometime last year (last time I saw a movie there, anyway) the Regal Cinema in Newington was a posted "gun-free zone".

Perhaps they (and their customers) would be better served by posting some No Sexual Predators Allowed signs instead.

NEWINGTON, N.H. -- Police in Newington are looking for a man they said sexually assaulted a woman inside Regal Cinema in July.

Police said the woman was leaving the theater around 2 a.m. on July 19 when the suspect came up behind her near the door of the theater. They believe the suspect was captured on the theater's surveillance system.


Three words: Concealed means concealed.

Just sayin'.

Mission Accomplished

Much to the disappointment of many in the freedom-loving sector of the blogosphere, Kim du Toit has announced his retirement from blogging (effective November 30th).

Suffice to say, I owe Kim a mountain of gratitude for all he's done to turn this country back into a Nation of Riflemen. His was one of the first blogs I started reading on a daily basis back when I first discovered these things called blogs.

Where to begin...

I had lived most of my adult life, up until that time, as a happy-go-lucky, sign-waving, Bill Clinton cheerleader and registered Democrat in Massachusetts. Yes, I actually carried a sign at Bill Clinton's big Quincy Market rally back in '92. And, yes, much like the ones being carried by today's Obamapostles, my sign had "CHANGE" written in big letters (posterboard and Sharpies, courtesy of the Big Dig office supply room).

The peak of my naivety (which coincidentally occurred at the same time as my peak alcohol consumption) was the fall of 1988, when I had my Dukakis/Bentsen sign tacked up proudly on the wall of my dorm room.

But, even as recently as June of 2001, on a trip to Washington DC, I was thinking how cool it would be if we had bumped into Ted Kennedy and got the chance to shake his hand (though, I'd still like a face-to-face with the Senator, but not for hand-shaking purposes).

Then, a few months later, a bunch of assholes decided to commandeer some passenger jets and use them to murder 3,000 innocent people - men, women, and children - on American soil.

Now, having been through the Big Dig's mandated sensitivity and awareness "training" programs, I had already built up a pretty respectable level of disdain for the wave of political correctness that was spreading across our country at the time.

But to watch the cold-blooded murder of thousands (once every two minutes on TV) and then to hear those on the left tell me that "we had it coming" was too much.

These people are insane.

It was then that I really became aware of just how valuable talk radio and the internet were (and still are) for getting all the facts and information pertaining to the events of the day, when compared to the pre-packaged, left-leaning network news programs.

The second-biggest change in my whole outlook on life, which took place at that time, was my waking up to the reality that my government cannot be depended upon to keep me safe. No politician or government employee of any stripe could possibly guarantee my personal safety and well-being.

That responsibility was mine, and mine alone.

I refer to that awakening as the "second-biggest" change in my outlook on life, because shortly thereafter, I became the father to the most precious and beautiful little girls in the world.

I never truly appreciated the frailty of human life until the moment I watched my girls being whisked away from the delivery room up to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston, where they would spend the next seven weeks of their lives with limited parental contact, living in the dark and being fed through a small tube.

When the day finally came to bring them home, it hit me like a ton of diapers.

For the past seven weeks, these kids have had round-the-clock care from highly trained medical professionals in one of the best hospitals around.

What now?

I was now responsible for more than just my own life. I had the lives and dreams of two beautiful girls in the palm of my hand (quite literally).

Thus continued my journey from "It's For the Children!TM" to "No, really, it is for the children". Anyone who's been blessed with the mantle of parenthood will need no further explanation on the differences between the two.

So, where was I?

Oh, yeah, Kim's upcoming retirement. Right.

It would be impossible to pinpoint the exact moment in time that I decided to become both a gun owner and a gun rights activist and blogger, but this post, Part 1 of Kim's The Gun Thing series of posts was likely involved to an immeasurably large degree.

I'll quote just this one paragraph that really hit home for me, but if you haven't read the whole thing, please do so. All the posts in that series should be required reading for anyone graduating high school in this country (yeah, that'll happen).

This defense of "self" extends to family. Every man I know would cheerfully put themselves in harm’s way to protect their children. It is the most basic male instinct, after sex. And of course this drives authority figures and the societal nannies crazy. "Leave that to the police," they implore, "Don’t get involved." Bullshit. Where I and my family are concerned, safety is first and foremost my own responsibility, and I will not abrogate that responsibility to others. A pox on those who would make me do otherwise.


In short, to say Kim and his writing have been somewhat influential in my life would be a gross understatement. Mere words cannot quantify how thankful I am that I stumbled upon his little corner of the blogosphere all those years ago.

Back Home

I see not much has changed since I left.

Nancy Pelosi is still a total disgrace to this nation and its people, more then happy to stifle our country's economic growth if it might benefit the Democrats at the polls.

She and the rest of the scumbag Socialists who have taken over the party that once gave us "ask what you can do for your country" know full well that lifting the ban on offshore oil drilling will have an immediate effect of oil futures, resulting in a drop in the price of oil and gasoline.

They simply cannot allow that to happen, as it will expose them for what they truly are - a reprehensible bunch of power hungry fascists who couldn't give a rat's ass about how their economic (environmental, foreign policy, healthcare, etc.) policies will destroy the very fabric of America and bring its people to their knees.

Then again, that's exactly what they want. A nation of helpless subjects groveling on their knees, begging for table scraps from the feasts of the anointed ones.

In a just world...well...use your imaginations.

Speaking of reprehensible, power-hungry, liberal scumbags:

I see DC Mayor Adrian Fenty and his goons have decided to tell the Supreme Court to go to hell. Rule of law? We don't need no stinkin' rule of law. We ARE the law!

And, imagine how SHOCKED I was to learn that Barack N' Roll Hoochie-Coo Obama is still flinging race cards across the room like they're going out of style, and getting his circus ponies in the press to play along.

Shocked, I tell you.

And, last but not least (reprehensible), the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Ownership is continuing its campaign of lies, misinformation and fear-mongering, this time vilifying assault weapons, er...high-capacity, uh... bird-hunting shotguns with a three-round capacity.

Are these people all sharing the same drinking water source?
